On Saturday, visit Historic Longstreet Farm in Holmdel and stop by the farmhouse to hear melodies from the 1890s played on the accordion. Enjoy the melodies as you step back in time with a visit to the farm. This free events run from 1:00 - 3:00 pm.
From 11:00 am - 2:00 pm: the field is ready and it’s time to plant! Give our farmers a hand as we sow this year’s crop of potatoes. Weather dependent.

19th Century Easter Celebration

Celebrate Easter at Allaire from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm on Saturday! Participate in a plethora of Spring and Easter activities such as an egg roll competition, egg toss, bonnet decorating, story-telling, a village scavenger hunt, Easter egg dying, and more! LIVE chicks and bunnies, and the Easter Bunny roaming the Village throughout the day! Visit the Garden Bubble Fairy (performances throughout the day!), Easter selfie stations, live music for entertainment, and MORE! Check back for a list of updated activities that make this one of our MOST popular and family-friendly events of the year!
Purchase an Easter basket onsite (or bring your own) to visit each of our historic buildings and outdoor historical areas for an Easter egg. Explore life at an early 19th century industrial village; witness a variety of 19th century demonstrations such as blacksmithing, woodworking, hearth cooking, and more!
On April 2nd, 1822, the village's founder James P. Allaire purchased 5,000 acres of land in Monmouth County and transformed it into the Howell Iron Works! 200 years later, many of the village's buildings still stand and its history is still memorialized today.
Be sure to pick-up some delicious Easter treats at our Village Bakery, and have lunch at the Pilsen Gourmet Food Truck!

$8 per person, 2 & under is free.

Henhouse Visits

Step inside a working henhouse where the farm's Barred Rock chickens are busy laying and help a farmer make their feed: then reach into a nest box and take out an egg to bring home! Visitors will learn egg candling and grading, and can also visit the farm's 50 new baby chicks in the brooder coop.
A children's craft, "Egg Carton Chicken," will also be offered for a small materials fee.
The site is open from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Please note that all 2022 programs will be modified to encourage social distancing and reflect current State guidelines for public events. Visitors are required to carry masks at all times, and wear them when social distancing isn't possible.

Mansions by the Sea Trolley Tour
You’ll hear how the rich lived in the early 1900s in the most elegant part of town on this trolley tour that includes the eastern beachfront. You’ll see the broad streets and massive plots on Cape May’s east side – an area marketed as “New Cape May” at the turn of the 20th century. Today, new, beachfront second homeowners have continued the tradition, running the gamut from the mere wealthy to the fabulously rich. This narrated tour travels along Beach Drive through the early 20th century East Cape May Development areas. Guides discuss history and architecture. Begins and ends at the Ocean Street trolley stop.
