Wheat Planting
Family Friendly Site
Wheat planting is a delicate operation, and the soil has to be just right to plant on schedule...but the work of threshing, grinding, and milling wheat for flour or animal feed goes on rain or shine.
Join farmers in the barn on the threshing floor, in the woodshed—where you can lend a hand cutting firewood for the kitchen stove—and in the farmhouse to help churn butter for bread made with Howell Farm wheat. As a 'thank you' for your help, you’ll go home with a share of the harvest: a bag of freshly-ground flour, complete with a recipe to make whole wheat bread at home. The site is open from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Please note that all 2021 programs will be modified to encourage social distancing and reflect current State guidelines for public events. Visitors are required to carry masks at all times, and wear them when social distancing isn't possible.

On Saturday at 10:00 am, join the Center for Community Arts (CCA) Community History Committee on a trolley tour of the places where escaped slaves sought refuge and help to continue their journeys to freedom. Hear how legendary anti-slavery fighter, Harriet Tubman, walked these streets, as did prominent railroad businessman and former slave, Stephen Smith, whose railroad cars carried hundreds to freedom. travels through parts of Cape May and West Cape May, with stops along the way, including the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Board the trolley at the Washington Street Mall information booth at Ocean Street for this tour. Admission is $25 per adult and $15 per child (ages 3-12). Mansions by the Sea Trolley Tour
You’ll hear how the rich lived in the early 1900s in the most elegant part of town on this trolley tour that includes the eastern beachfront. You’ll see the broad streets and massive plots on Cape May’s east side – an area marketed as “New Cape May” at the turn of the 20th century. Today, new, beachfront second homeowners have continued the tradition, running the gamut from the mere wealthy to the fabulously rich. 4 Tales from the Original Peoples of the Northeastern Woodlands
Virtual Program
Isaac Pearson Mansion and Park presents four Tales from the Original Peoples of the Northeastern Woodlands, a limited-time series of pre-recorded and on-demand stories, available through Friday, October 15, 2021, via its website www.isaacpearson.org. Registration is encouraged. Donations are accepted.
Regional storytellers Rob Aptaker and Denise McCormack share four stories, each individually formatted with running times varying from 6 to 11 minutes. Included are 'The Coming of Stories' and 'The Seven Wise Elders,' adapted and retold by Rob Aptaker, and 'Rainbow Crow' and 'The Invisible One and the Rough-Faced Girl,' adapted and retold by Denise McCormack.
The Isaac Pearson mansion was built in 1773, is on the National and State Register of Historic Places. We are offering online and outdoor programs while the Mansion is being restored.
Isaac Pearson Mansion is operated by volunteers of the Historical Society of Hamilton Township, a 501 ( c) 3 non-profit. Your donations help us to preserve the Isaac Pearson Mansion and present history and culture.
