Two neighbors on Stockton Street, Morven Museum & Garden, and the Center of Theological Inquiry (CTI), are collaborating again to run a varied international program of book interviews with authors from Ireland, the USA, New Zealand, Scotland, and the Netherlands, a one-man play on Charles Darwin, and a private tour of Morven’s Bruce Springsteen photographic exhibition – something for everyone, and all in the intimate setting of a literary salon in CTI’s Luce Hall and Morven. Saturday, March 25   - Madison, Morris County New Jersey Makers Day Children Friendly Event On Friday and Saturday, residents throughout New Jersey will come together for New Jersey Makers Day, a statewide event that celebrates, promotes and introduces "Maker Culture." This growing movement that values and encourages tinkering, science, technology, art, and math which has a significant impact on school curriculum development. The Museum of Early Trades & Crafts (METC) will celebrate New Jersey Makers Day on Saturday from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm with a variety of hands-on projects for children of all ages. Beginner Rug Hooking Workshop at Jacobus Vanderveer House Sunday, March 26, 2017 If you’ve ever wanted to learn rug hooking, here’s your opportunity to get hooked! Cheryl Halliday, a member of the Hunterdon County Rug Artisans Guild and an award-winning McGown-certified instructor, will introduce participants to the art and tradition of rug hooking, and help them create their own masterpiece. The workshop will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at Bedminster’s historic Jacobus Vanderveer House, 3055 River Road, River Road Park, Bedminster, NJ. The museum will also be open to the public for tours during that time.

Historic Roebling Walking Tours Sundays, April 2 and 23, 2017 Saturday, May 6, 2017 Join former education teacher and member of the Roebling Museum board emeritus, George Lengel, and former park ranger, Doug Kiovsky, as they take visitors on a trip through time to experience what life was like living and working in a model company town during the first half of the 20th century. Three distinctly unique one and a half hour walking tours covering two themes will be offered: the Village Sampler Tour and the Saints, Sinners, and the Paycheck Tour. Tours depart from the lobby of the Roebling Museum in Roebling, NJ. Admission of $15 per person for the walking tour includes museum gallery access. Friday, March 17  - Sandy Hook, Monmouth County Ghost Hunting in East Amwell The Paranormal Activity Research Society of New Jersey (PARS) has been ghost hunting in East Amwell, and are ready to share their spooky discoveries with you on Friday at 7:00 pm. PARS members will show you the tools of their trade -- cameras, K2 meters, REM-Pods and more.  Then they'll tell you about their visit to the Clawson House before discussing perhaps the most haunted house they've ever investigated: a 1760 farm house in East Amwell. They will play for you the eerie audio voices and a conversations that occurred while no earthly being was in the room, and then show you what they captured on camera. The Morris County Historical Society Presents "Florham: An American Treasure" Sunday, March 12, 2017 The Morris County Historical Society announces a special presentation on Sunday, March 12 at 2:00 pm at the Morristown and Morris Township Library, 1 Miller Road, Morristown, New Jersey featuring the book Florham: An American Treasure . A pictorial history of the iconic Vanderbilt-Twombly estate, the book follows the property from “home” to Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Florham Campus. Meet authors Carol Bere, Walter Cummins, and Arthur T. Vanderbilt II as they share their insight into Florham’s history, recreate the family’s amazing lifestyle there during the Gilded Age, and explain how Florham survived, when countless other local mansions and estates did not. Enjoy viewing vintage photographs as well as new color images that were taken for the book by photographer Mark Hillringhouse. A program highlight will be the showing of a “lost” film recorded in the 1930s

The Women of Summer a Documentary Film Screening  At the Morris County Historical Society Wednesday, March 8, 2017 Join historian, author, and filmmaker Dr. Rita Heller, Associate Professor of History at the County College of Morris, on Wednesday, March 8 at 2:00 pm as she presents her award-winning National Endowment for the Humanities documentary film The Women of Summer: An Unknown Chapter of American Social History at the Morris County Historical Society’s Acorn Hall.  The film captures a little-known chapter in American educational and social justice history when blue collar women participated in a pioneering and influential educational experiment known as the Bryn Mawr Summer School for Women Workers (1921-1938). The program was funded by many well-known capitalists of the era, and it introduced women of all backgrounds to a wide array of humanistic and political thought.
