Organization of the Week: Tuckerton Historical Society

Every Monday, I highlight a non-profit related to history or the arts, a historical society, preservation group or friends group whose main objective is to promote the historical and artistic history of New Jersey and beyond.

This week, I am featuring the Tuckerton Historical Society. The Tuckerton Historical Society was founded in 1972 and serves the area of Little Egg Harbor and Tuckerton. The Society maintains the Giffordtown Schoolhouse and the Tuckerton Little Borough Hall.

The Society's main event each year is the Old Clamtown Flea Market at Tip Seaman Park, held every September on the Saturday after Labor Day. The Society's monthly meeting features an interesting guest speaker on a topic related to local, state, or national history. The museum showcases a variety of exhibits on local landmarks, events, and people. There are also changing exhibits throughout the year.
