Organization of the Week: The Red Mill Museum Village

Every Monday, I highlight a non-profit related to history or the arts, a historical society, preservation group or friends group whose main objective is to promote the historical and artistic history of New Jersey.

This week, I am featuring the Red Mill Museum Village. Through its twelve buildings, ten acres, its exhibitions - both permanent and rotating - of its collection of 40,000 artifacts, and its ongoing educational/outreach programs, the Museum seeks to preserve, maintain, and present to the public the social, agricultural, and industrial heritage of Hunterdon County and its surrounding area.

The Red Mill Museum Village hosts various programs throughout the year including Revolutionary War Days, a Civil War event, a storytelling festival, and a haunted village fundraiser each October. The Mill features changing exhibits on topics in Hunterdon County and New Jersey history, agriculture, milling, and the mill's history.

The Red Mill Museum Village relies on memberships, fundraising, and countless volunteers to continue its mission. For more information on programs, special events, and exhibits hosted by the Red Mill Museum Village or to become a member or volunteer, please call 908-735-4101 or visit www.theredmill.org.

If you are a member of a non-profit organization or know of one that you would like to see featured on this site, please let us know in the comments or send an e-mail to kelly@thehistorygirl.com.
