Organization of the Week: Friends of Princeton Nursery Lands

Every Monday, I highlight a non-profit related to history or the arts, a historical society, preservation group or friends group whose main objective is to promote the historical and artistic history of New Jersey. This week, I am featuring the Friends of Princeton Nursery Lands. Founded in 2000, the mission of the Friends of Princeton Nursery Lands is the preservation, protection, development, and interpretation of the historical, horticultural, and natural resources of the former Princeton Nurseries Kingston Site, for the enjoyment of present and future generations. The Friends work in conjunction with the Mapleton Preserve Commission, South Brunswick Township, the Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park, the State of New Jersey, and other local and regional organizations, to assure the preservation, restoration, and interpretation of the land and buildings once owned by Princeton Nurseries for the benefit of the public. Saturday, September 28  - Princeton, Mercer County Revolution at Princeton The Princeton Battlefield Society welcomes the public to Revolution at Princeton, on Saturday from 1:00 - 8:15 pm.  This year’s event features Artillery Demonstrations put on by the 4th Battalion Royal Artillery and Shakespeare’s As you Like It put on by the Princeton Shakespeare Co., along with music, battlefield life, food, and more. The public is invited to learn about General Washington’s Strategy to win the Battle of Princeton and why the Battle was such a critical turning point of the American Revolution. With hourly demonstrations by the living history 4th Battalion Royal Artillery learn more about the important role of artillery at the Battle of Princeton (1:00 - 4:30 pm). In the evening,
